Burhan wani sought blessings from Hafiz Saeed, reveals audiotape

TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ The incident of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani’s killing drew a lot of attention since his encounter on July 8, earlier this year. There were questions being raised over the Indian Army’s dubious handling of the situation. Recently, an audiotape has surfaced which states that the slain militant Burhan Wani was in constant touch with terrorist organization – Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for a long period of time.

The conversation was in order to ‘seek blessings’ from Saeed to fight the ‘common enemy’ and also about funds and operational coordination with the organization. The audiotape confirms the fact that Wani was in awe of Saeed as he had been trying to get in touch with him for a long time and that, his wish was finally fulfilled by the grace of God.

A senior intelligence officer told, “Wani was more into religion-based jihad and believed in khilafat, shahadat and rule of Sharia, rather than fighting purely for the Kashmir cause. There were times he differed with the Hizbul leadership…for instance, Salahuddin and company had disapproved of his plan to kill J&K police personnel. It seems that in conversations with Saeed, he was speaking as Burhan Wani rather than for his outfit.”
