3 dead after 6-storey building falls on another in Noida

TIL Desk/National/Greater Noida/ Two buildings collapsed in Greater Noida, killing at least three persons and trapping several others under the debris, officials said on Wednesday. A six-storey under-construction building collapsed on an adjacent building in Shah Beri village on Tuesday night. The second building also collapsed under the impact. Three people, including a builder and his two associates, have been arrested.

“We have recovered three bodies. Their identity is still unknown. Three of them were either working as security guards or as labours. The rescue operation will take some more time. We have called big machines for the same. Also, we have arrested three people in the case,” inspector general, Meerut, Ram Kumar told. A National Disaster Response Force officer said two bodies were pulled out of the rubble so far.

The NDRF is assisting the police and fire-fighters in the rescue operations. Drills are being used to remove metal rods to reach those trapped under the debris. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate to monitor the relief-and-rescue operations. DGP O P Singh has informed the chief minister about the rescue operations.
