To bring this game to the masses and to give young talent a platform to showcase their skills, The Awadh Golf League was inaugurated in Lucknow. Quite similar to IPL, 13 teams are participating in this golf tournament where most of the players in these teams are from Lucknow, Kanpur and nearby areas. Jugal Kishore Nawabs, owned by the Director of Lala Jugal Kishore, Tanya Rastogi, is also participating in the tournament. Mrs. Rastogi said, “Such tournaments are a great platform for young talents to showcase their skills. A golf tournament with league matches on such a large scale is being commissioned for the first time in Lucknow and nearby cities. There has been a lot of enthusiasm among the people about this.”
The captaincy of Jugal Kishore Nawabs team has been handed over to the former international hockey player Mr. Vijay Singh who is also a professional golfer. The members of Jugal Kishore Nawab team are Col (R.) HK Kalra, Ankit Khandelwal, Anand Kumar Shukla, Atul Katyal, Ramit Batra, Sanjay Bhasin, Achint Khandelwal, Sanjeev Kumar, Rohan Bambi, Mohit Yadav, Sudeep Luthra, Dr. VB Singh. All the players of the team are very excited about this tournament. Earlier in the golfers’ auction, Jugal Kishore Nawabs signed Anand Kumar Shukla, the most valued player of the auction, with the highest points of 2,90,000. Jugal Kishore Nawabs captain Mr. Vijay Singh said, “The tournament is being organized on the lines of IPL and will give a good professional exposure to the young golfers, all of them are very excited and are determined to give their best.”
According to the Avadh Golf League Organizing Committee, the matches will be held on every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the next four weeks complying with all the Covid guidelines. During this, the family members of the players will also come to watch the match. In view of this, many more events will be organized. Each team will play at least 4 matches during this tournament. The league matches will be followed by knock-out matches. The championship semi-finals and plate semifinals will be held on March 11 and 12 respectively, while the championship finals and plate finals will be played on March 16. Jugal Kishore Nawabs will play their first match on February 17 against Micro Light Eagles at 9:30 am
