TIL Desk Lucknow/ Cadet Shivanshu Chauhan of Naval NCC Unit, Lucknow successfully completed an Overseas Deployment onboard warships of 1st Training Squadron of Indian Navy. He was among the ten best naval NCC cadets in India, chosen after a rigorous selection cum training process by Naval NCC unit and NCC Group HQ Lucknow, and was the only cadet to represent the NCC Directorate, Uttar Pradesh on this deployment of 40 days, during which the warships were deployed in the Arabian sea, Gulf of Aden & Red Sea, and visited five nations.
The cadets sailed on warships INS Sujata and INS Tir, which visited ports in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Eritrea, Egypt and Djibouti between 12 April 2022 to 18 May 2022. During the long deployment at sea, the selected cadets were exposed to the challenging life of naval personnel, various facets of warship operations, exercises with foreign navies and interaction with foreign naval personnel.
For his special achievement, Cadet Shivanshu was felicitated at Kochi by Commodore Ajay Shekhar Shukla, Commodore (Training), Southern Naval Command. It was a proud moment for him, as Commodore Shukla is himself an alumnus of 3 UP Naval Unit NCC, Lucknow of 1986 batch.
Naval Combatant Sailor Petty Officer KK Tiwari and Training Assistant Veenu Singh of Naval NCC unit, Lucknow played a key role in the cadet’s preparation & training for the deployment. This is expected to provide motivation and encouragement to many naval NCC cadets of the state.
