TIL Desk Lucknow/ The Indian Steel Association (ISA) organized the ISA Steel Infra Build Summit 2023 in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, during a one-day conference. The summit witnessed the participation of key stakeholders from the steel industry, senior officials involved in the industrial development of the state, and many dignitaries.
Held at the iconic Taj Mahal in Lucknow, the summit focused on the increased utilization of steel in the foundational structures and construction projects in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significance of Uttar Pradesh in the nation’s economic growth, stating, “Uttar Pradesh, with its population of 25 crore, is not just a consumer market but also the largest labor market in the country.” He further emphasized that the rapid development taking place in the state has attracted investors, showcasing an excellent environment for investment and security in the infrastructure and connectivity sectors. He said, “In the development of New India, Uttar Pradesh is playing a crucial role.”
The Chief Minister encouraged all stakeholders and entrepreneurs to align their efforts with the vision of Prime Minister Modi’s Trillion-Dollar Economy and contribute to making Uttar Pradesh a growth engine.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashish Anupam of Tata Steel Long Products expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for supporting the steel industry in resource and security matters. He stated, “In recent years, as Uttar Pradesh undergoes transformative development, we, together, will contribute to making UP a $1 trillion economy.”
Chairman of the Steel Committee, Mr. Amalendu Prakash, commented on the Chief Minister’s address, saying, “The way Honorable Chief Minister has referred to Uttar Pradesh as the land of opportunities is absolutely correct, given the rapid development happening here. The state’s growing demand for steel in foundational structures and construction projects presents significant opportunities for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states, as well as the steel industry. Government policies and entrepreneurial thinking will help the steel industry play a vital role in nation-building.”
Despite the rapid economic growth, per capita steel consumption in Uttar Pradesh, with its large population, remains lower compared to other states like Maharashtra. This disparity presents significant opportunities for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states, as well as the steel industry, to accelerate progress in foundational structures.
The ISA Steel InfraBuild Summit aimed to promote the benefits of steel in relevant sectors, discussing its increased usage. Besides distinguished guests, the event witnessed active participation from major builders, architects, project management and construction consultants, construction firms, and top infrastructure companies, particularly those involved in railways, metro systems, bridges, and airports.
