TIL Desk/National/Srinagar/ High alert has been sounded in Akhnoor and Khour area of Jammu and Kashmir after the terrorist attack on General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) camp in Akhnoor. The militants attacked the GREF camp in Akhnoor near LoC on Monday morning and killed three GREF labourers. Schools and colleges in Akhnoor sub-division closed in wake of attack on GREF attack.
“Three civilians working as labourers with GREF were killed in a terror attack close to LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district,” reported quoting Defense sources. The GREF camp is located 2km from Line of Control (LoC) in Abhor . The attack on GREF camp comes 40 days after terrorists attacked an army camp at Nagrota on November 30 last year.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and a combing operation is underway. Defence PRO Manish Mehta said, “At 1.15 AM there was attack on GREF platoon in Batla. 3 labourers killed. The area has been cordoned off even as search operations were on”. As per sources, the terrorists likely infiltrated from across the border and attacked the camp around 1 AM near LoC in Battal village in Akhnoor.
