TIL Desk New Delhi/ #RailwayBudget Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announcements for Railways in his Union Budget 2017 speech in Parliament.

* For 2017-18, the plan size has been pegged by the Railways at Rs 1,31,000 crore.

* No service charge on tickets booked by IRCTC

* By 2019, all coaches of Indian Railways will be fitted with Bio-Toilets

* 3,500 km railway lines to be commissioned in 2017-18 as against 2,800 km in 2016-17

* Elimination of unmanned level crossings on the BG network by 2020.

* Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh is proposed to be created with a corpus of Rs. 1 lakh crore

* 25 new stations to be developed by FY18

* Unified budget provides an opportunity for integrated transport solutions by synergising rail, road & waterways transportation investments

* One divyang toilet per platform on A1 class stations

* Centralised Defense Travel System has been designed to allow defense personnel to book tickets online

* Launch of new service – Antyodaya express : Unreserved, second class, superfast trains.

* A new metro rail policy will be announced with focus on innovative models of implementation and finance.

* Time-bound listing of Central Public Sector Enterprises. Shares of IRCON, IFRB etc to be listed.

* All coaches of railways to be fitted with bio-tyres by 2019

* Four priorities for railways are: 1. Passenger safety 2. Development work 3. Cleanliness 4. Reform in Accounts.
