Max Hospital Lucknow Hosts Heart Health Fair to Raise Awareness about Rising Cardiac Diseases in the City

TIL Desk Lucknow: 👉Max Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow celebrated World Heart Day with a heartwarming and fun-filled Heart Health Fair. The fair offered engaging activities centered on cardiac care, demonstrating the hospital’s dedication to spreading awareness about coronary artery diseases and promoting heart health.

The event featured an engaging Zumba session, an interactive CPR training booth to teach life-saving techniques, and health stalls offering guidance on heart-healthy nutrition. The ‘Heart Health Fair’ was conducted in the presence of renowned cardiologists Dr. Nakul Sinha, Dr. Vijayant Devenraj(Cardiac Surgeon), and Dr. Ambukeshwar Singh. The doctors delivered informative health talk on the rising cardiac issues.

Dr. Nakul Sinha, Chairman, Cardiology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, said, “Historically, heart diseases especially Coronary artery disease were thought to primarily affect the elderly only. However, this perspective has changed as advancements in detection and diagnosis reveal that heart conditions can affect individuals of all ages, including adolescents and young adults. This disease has become much more evident, with its incidences and prevalence increasing significantly due to rising risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, smoking, and unhealthy lifestyle choices. Conditions such as heart attacks, and even sudden deaths are becoming increasingly common in these populations.”

Dr. Vijayant Devenraj, Director and HoD, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, expressed deep concern regarding the current situation, stating, “The alarming rise in cases of coronary artery diseases among young individuals is a cause for great concern. We are now doing at least 2-3 bypass surgeries every month in young adults these days against 2-3 in a year earlier.”

Dr Ambukeshwar Singh, Associate Director & Unit Head, Interventional Cardiology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, raised awareness to the audience about the lesser-known silent heart attack phenomenon, said, “While it’s rare, it is possible to have a silent heart attack without experiencing typical symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath. The incidence of such attacks ranges from 20% to 30% of all heart attacks especially in Diabetics”
