From Diagnosis to Victory Cancer Survivors Celebrate Their Journey at Max Hospital, Lucknow

TIL Desk Lucknow:👉Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow today hosted a Carnival for Cancer Survivors, bringing together survivors, their families, and healthcare professionals for a day of celebration, encouragement, and community support. The event saw the participation of over 300 people. The Carnival was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Vishak G, District Magistrate, Lucknow, spoke about the crucial role of awareness and support to those dealing with cancer.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth and hope as the ceremonial lamp was lit by the Chief Guest and Dr. Alok Gupta, Senior Director & Head, Medical Oncology, Max Hospital, Lucknow along with other senior dignitaries from the hospital.

Dr. Harit Chaturvedi, Chairman, Max Institute of Cancer Care, said, “75% of cancer cases in India are diagnosed at an advanced stage, drastically reducing the chance of survival. Awareness and early intervention are crucial to saving lives. The lifestyle related cancers continue to rise at an alarming rate, however, a crusade focussed on prevention and early detection is the need of the hour. This event serves as a platform to address these issues through knowledge sharing. The insights gained here will be instrumental in shaping the future of cancer care in India.”

Acknowledging the mental health challenges survivors face, Dr. Alok Gupta, Senior Director & Head of Medical Oncology, Max Hospital, Lucknow shared, “Cancer survivors experience anxiety or depression after recovery. Cancer care doesn’t end with providing treatment, it extends to emotional and psychological well-being. By fostering hope, connection, and empowerment, such initiative aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of countless cancer patients.”

The event, aimed at honoring the strength and resilience of survivors, showcased inspiring survivor stories, engaging games, wellness sessions, musical performances, and expert talks on life after cancer. Attendees participated in interactive activities designed to promote physical and emotional well-being, while doctors and specialists provided valuable insights on survivorship care.

The symbolic release of 500 helium balloons was a defining moment balloon representing a survivor’s journey, soaring towards a future filled with hope. Live music added to the celebratory mood, bringing smiles and a sense of togetherness among attendees.
