Foodman Vishal Singh Honored with International Doctorate Degrees: A Beacon of Selfless Service for the Past 18 Years

TIL Desk Lucknow:👉 Living by the unwavering philosophy that “No one should sleep hungry”, Foodman Vishal Singh has emerged as a symbol of compassion and dedication to humanity. In recognition of his tireless social service and humanitarian contributions, he has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees by three distinguished international universities: Maryland State University (USA), Burlington State University (USA), and University of Cuneo (Italy).

Vishal Singh has devoted over 18 years of his life to humanitarian work, relentlessly serving the poor, the sick, and the hungry. His mission started with a simple vision—to ensure that no one sleeps hungry—and has now grown into a massive service movement.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when fear, isolation, and hunger were widespread, Vishal Singh and his team stepped up like true warriors of humanity. He provided food to hundreds of thousands of people across Lucknow and neighboring regions, distributing meals daily to those abandoned on streets, outside hospitals, and in slums. His work was not just about providing food—it was about restoring hope when the world felt hopeless.

Currently, under the umbrella of his non-profit organization Vijay Shri Foundation, Vishal Singh is running a sustained daily meal service for over 1,000 people, especially cancer patients and their families at institutions like Medical College Lucknow and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences. In addition to food, accommodation for another 1,000 individuals—many of whom are caretakers or rural patients visiting city hospitals—is also being provided free of charge.

These services operate 365 days a year, regardless of weather, festival, or personal challenge. Singh’s consistency and commitment over nearly two decades is not only rare, but also inspirational.

What makes Vishal Singh’s journey even more remarkable is that his efforts are entirely volunteer-driven, supported by kind-hearted individuals and well-wishers who resonate with his cause. His “Hunger Free World” campaign is now transcending borders, gaining support in countries like Thailand, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and inspiring global citizens to join the movement for a world where hunger becomes history.

Universities across the globe have begun to take note of his lifelong dedication. The Doctor of Humanity and Doctor of Social Service honorary degrees awarded to him stand as recognition of how one man’s dream, driven by compassion, can impact thousands.

Foodman Vishal Singh is not just a social worker—he is a movement, a mission, and a message to the world: true service is selfless, consistent, and never stops—no matter the odds.
