TIL Desk/National/Patna/ Amid tensions in ‘Mahagathbandhan’, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs will meet on Wednesday in the presence of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) MLAs will also meet at 5 pm today.
The JD(U), Congress and RJD are partners of Bihar’s ruling Grand Alliance, which is in the throes of a political crisis due to the CBI raids on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s premises over an alleged benami land deal.
The JD(U) has demanded Tejashwi Yadav to explain the alleged acquisition of massive wealth. The BJP and its NDA partners have been strongly demanding for resignation of Tejashwi Yadav.
JD(U) spokespersons have also been advised to keep mum on Tejashwi. As one party spokesperson said on condition of anonymity, the next decision will come from Nitish himself. “Ye toofaan se pehle ki shanti hai (this is the calm before the storm)”, he said.
The meetings assume significance as the Bihar Assembly session will commence from July 28. There is a widening rift in the state’s ruling Grand Alliance over the corruption allegations against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
