Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs appointed Wales manager

TIL Desk Sports/ Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been appointed as the new Wales manager. The former Reds star agreed to a four-year contract to take up his first managerial post since leaving Old Trafford in 2016, following a spell as Louis van Gaal’s assistant and also caretaker boss after David Moyes’ departure.

“I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the national team. The challenges that we have ahead of us with the Nations League and qualification for Euro 2020 excite me a great deal. I can’t wait to start working with the players as we prepare for those crucial games later in the year,” Giggs told the official Football Association of Wales website.

A prominent name in football history, Giggs during his time at United won 13 Premier League winner’s medals, four FA Cup winner’s medals, three League Cup winner’s medals, two UEFA Champions League winner’s medals, a FIFA Club World Cup winner’s medal, an Intercontinental Cup winner’s medal, a UEFA Super Cup winner’s medal and nine FA Community Shield winner’s medals. He also captained the team on numerous occasions, particularly in the 2007-08 season when regular captain Gary Neville was ruled out with various injuries.
