TIL Desk/World/Islamabad-Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Pakistan Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, has said that Belarus and Kazakhstan have assured to support Islamabad’s bid for membership to the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
Stating that Pakistan is expanding its relations with different countries including Russian and central Asian states, Fatemi said that Belarusan President Alexander Lukashenko would also visit Pakistan next month. He reiterated that Pakistan’s application for the NSG is based on technical experience, capability and commitment to nuclear safety and security.
On the Kashmir issue, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will raise the issue at the United Nations General Assembly session. Even India has been in the bid to join the main club of countries controlling access to sensitive nuclear technology with push by the United States (US) and other major power. However, China has opposed the move and backs Pakistan.
