TIL Desk/Business/New Delhi/ The Indian Railways created employment of 12.42 lakh mandays and spent over Rs 2,566 crore in 110 days under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan (PMGKRA).
Addressing a virtual press conference here, Railway Board Chairman and CEO V.K. Yadav said, “The railways launched the PMGKRA from June 20. And by October 9, we have created employment of 12,42,159 mandays.”
He said the railways has taken up 164 works under the PMGKRA. Yadav also highlighted that the national transporter was given a target of 160 works and expenditure of Rs 1,800 crore in 125 days.
“Railways has incurred 43 per cent more than the target of Rs 1,800 crore as we have sepnt over Rs 2,566 crore in 110 days,” the CEO said. PMGKRA was launched to boost employment and livelihood opportunities for migrant workers returning to their native villages and similarly affected citizens in rural areas in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.
