TIL Desk Sports/ Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara’s dismissal for 73 off the bowling of Dom Bess on the third day of the first Test against England on Sunday revived memories of Sachin Tendulkar’s dismissal during the first Test of the famous 2000-01 India-Australia series.
The right-handed Pujara pulled a short delivery from off-spinner Bess but the shot got deflected off the short-leg fielder and popped up straight to short mid-wicket where Rory Burns pouched it safely. Pujara felt that it was the only way he could have got out.
“Yeah it was [disappointing]. That is something [about] which I can’t do much as a batsman. It was just unlucky. I would say that. That is the only way I could have got out. I was batting really well. The way I was playing my shots. The way I was seeing the ball. Everything was perfect,” said Pujara after the end of the second day’s play.
