TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an immediate and a comprehensive ceasefire to end violence in Afghanistan as he said “no external power” can stop India’s friendship with it and both countries want to see the region free of “grave threat” of terrorism.
He was speaking at a virtual meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani that saw both sides signing an agreement to construct a dam by India in Afghanistan to supply drinking water to Kabul city.
In his brief address, PM Modi also expressed concern over increasing incidents of violence in Afghanistan including targeting of innocent citizens, journalists and activists in a “cowardly” manner, and said India will always stand by Afghan people in their journey of “patience, courage and determination”.
