* Rinku Singh-led Mavericks crush Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s Lucknow Falcons by 94 runs in the final; Zeeshan Ansari claims Purple Cap
TIL Desk Lucknow:👉On the biggest night of the UP T20 League 2026, Divyansh Joshi saved his best for last. The explosive batter produced a breathtaking century before Meerut Mavericks delivered a ruthless all-round performance to crush Lucknow Falcons by 94 runs and lift the Season 4 title at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
In a blockbuster final featuring two Indian internationals at the helm, Rinku Singh’s Meerut Mavericks proved far too strong for Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led Lucknow Falcons, bundling out the hosts for just 109 in 16 overs after piling up a commanding 203/7.
The victory was particularly significant for Meerut, who made it to their fourth consecutive final across all four editions of the tournament and finally stamped their authority on the competition with a dominant title-winning performance.
Divyansh steals the show
Rinku Singh won the toss and elected to bat first, and the decision was justified by a blazing start from Swastik Chikara and Divyansh Joshi. The opening pair added 53 runs at a brisk pace before Chikara departed.
What followed was an exhibition of fearless T20 batting from Joshi.
Drafted into the playing XI specifically for the final, Divyansh grabbed his opportunity with both hands and tore apart the Lucknow attack. Showing remarkable intent against both pace and spin, he attacked from the outset and maintained the momentum throughout his stay at the crease.
The right-hander smashed a sensational 105 off just 40 deliveries, an innings studded with 12 fours and seven towering sixes. His explosive knock, one of the finest in the history of the UP T20 League, powered Meerut Mavericks to an imposing 203/7 in 20 overs.
Falcons crumble under pressure
Chasing a daunting target of 204 in their maiden final, Lucknow Falcons needed a strong start but never managed to gain control of the contest. Meerut's bowlers struck at regular intervals, ensuring that the Falcons remained under pressure throughout the chase.
The middle and lower order collapsed as the Mavericks tightened their grip on the match. Ajeet Verma offered the only significant resistance with a fighting 39 off 24 balls, but his dismissal in a sharp run-out effectively ended Lucknow's hopes.
Left-arm pacer Vishal Chaudhary produced a match-defining spell, ripping through the Falcons' batting lineup to finish with outstanding figures of 4/24.
Spinner Zeeshan Ansari chipped in with two crucial wickets and capped a remarkable tournament by finishing as the highest wicket-taker. His tally of 25 wickets earned him the coveted Purple Cap, underlining his dominance throughout the season.
Lucknow Falcons were eventually bowled out for 109 in just 16 overs, handing Meerut Mavericks a comprehensive 94-run victory in the title clash.
For his stunning century under pressure on the biggest stage, Divyansh Joshi was named Player of the Match.
Meanwhile, Kashi Rudras skipper Karan Sharma finished as the tournament's leading run-getter with 361 runs and was awarded the Orange Cap.
For Meerut Mavericks, it was a night of complete dominance. For Divyansh Joshi, it was a performance that will be remembered as one of the defining innings of UP T20 League history—and for Lucknow Falcons, a final they would rather forget.
Meerut Mavericks had waited through four seasons of finals to establish their supremacy. On Sunday night in Lucknow, Rinku Singh and his men finally turned that dream into reality—with a statement victory worthy of champions.
