TIL Desk New Delhi:👉  After opening the world of his much-anticipated EP with ‘Assay Passay’, Talwiinder returns with a very different emotion on his second release ‘Mangda Wapis Kyun’ from ‘Paiinted Feeliings’. In collaboration with Kidjaywest, the track talks about the moment when someone once walked away suddenly wants to find their way back into your life. Whether it’s because they’ve realised they were wrong, genuinely miss you or simply can’t let go, the track captures the push and pull of two people trying to figure out if there’s anything left to go back to.

Written and performed by Talwiinder, ‘Mangda Wapis Kyun’ brings together two perspectives. Kidjaywest steps into the boy’s head through his rap, while Talwiinder writes the girl’s side of conversation, taking the story from one end to the other. At its heart, the track asks a simple question - When you were the one who let me go, why do you want me back now?

For Talwiinder, the song is also one for the women who have had to deal with this familiar situation. He shares, “I think we’ve all seen that person who comes back once they realise they messed up. Sometimes they genuinely miss you, and sometimes it's just a habit of wanting what they can’t have anymore. I wanted to make a song for the girls who have already moved on and don’t need to explain themselves again. If he comes back, play this for him.”

The song also carries a personal memory from Talwiinder’s time with Kidjaywest. “Mangda Wapis Kyun came together during an eight-hour road trip with Kidjaywest in Yucca Valley. We were just making music and talking, and somewhere along the way this idea came together. It started with back and forth between two people and that’s what the song eventually became - both sides of the same story, with both voices getting their own space”, he further added.

With Paiinted Feeliings, Talwiinder continues to explore the emotions that often sit beneath everyday moments - the things we feel, replay, question and sometimes never say it out loud. If ‘Assay Passay’ looked at the world around us and how they can shape who we become, ‘Mangda Wapis Kyun’ turns inwards, giving a voice to that very real moment when someone from your past comes knocking again.
