Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai is the first lady officer to command the AMC Centre And College
TIL Desk Lucknow/ Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, assumed the appointment of Commandant Army Medical Corps Centre and College, Officer-in-Charge AMC Records and Colonel Commandant of AMC on 01 Feb 2024. Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai is the first Lady officer to command the AMC Centre and College, since its inception 74 years ago.
Prior to present appointment, Lt. Gen. Kavita Sahai was Additional DGAFMS (HR) at office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), New Delhi. ‘NARI SHAKTI’ as enunciated by the Government of India has been followed in letter & spirit by the Indian Army which is exemplary in weaving a path for rest of the Nation to follow, and Lt Gen Kavita Sahai leads this path with her professionalism & dedication to the service of the nation.
Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai is an alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune and was commissioned in Army Medical Corps (AMC) on 30 Dec 1986. She did her MD (Pathology) in 1994 and DNB (Pathology) in 1997 from AFMC, Pune respectively. General Officer also did 2 Years fellowship in Oncopathology at AIIMS, New Delhi from 2000-2002 and Diploma in Health Professional Education in the year 2020-22 from Faimer Keele University, UK.
During her 37 years of service, Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai has held various important Administrative and Staff appointments such as HOD & Prof, Department of Lab Medicine at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt, Prof, Department of Pathology at AFMC, HOD & Prof, Department of Lab Medicine at Army Hospital (R&R) New Delhi. She has also tenated multiple staff appointments viz Consultant (Path) at Army Hospital (R&R) New Delhi, Deputy Commandant & Senior Executive Medical Officer (SEMO) at Command Hospital, Northern Command and Addl DGAFMS (HR) at office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), New Delhi.
Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai has been author of more than 100 papers published in National and International journals. For her outstanding & meritorious service, sterling qualities of industriousness towards achieving set targets and ability to perform with distinction in diverse fields, she was bestowed with the award of Sena Medal on 26 Jan 2024, VSM in 2018 and Chief Of Army Staff Commendation in 2008 & 2012. The General Officer is married to Maj Gen Rajesh Sahai, AVSM, SM (Retd).
