With the objective of reducing fatalities caused by road accidents, Suez is conducting a special awareness campaign highlighting the importance of seat belts as part of ‘Safety Week 2026.’ Through this campaign, an effort is being made to impress upon people that a simple habit—fastening a seat belt—can make a profound difference between life and death.
The campaign clarifies the distinction between common myths and actual facts regarding seat belts. People often harbor the misconception that a seat belt might trap them inside the vehicle during an accident; however, experts assert that seat belts are specifically designed for quick release and, more importantly, prevent an individual from being ejected from the vehicle—a scenario that poses a far greater danger.
Similarly, many people in hilly regions consider seat belts unnecessary; yet, according to experts, the risk of being thrown out of a vehicle in the event of sudden braking or skidding increases manifold when one is not wearing a seat belt. Even at speeds as low as 30–40 km/h, failing to wear a seat belt can result in severe or life-threatening injuries.
Experts further clarified that neither inexperience nor extensive experience can prevent accidents entirely; however, wearing a seat belt significantly mitigates the risk of injury.
On this occasion, Pankaj Singh, Health and Safety Manager at Suez, stated that everyone must fasten their seatbelts before traveling and should also encourage others to do the same. He mentioned that Suez is actively conducting this campaign across its various sites in Lucknow and is raising awareness among all its officers and employees regarding this matter.
“The Seat Belt—A Single Click That Changes Everything”—this message constitutes the primary objective of this campaign.
