TIL Desk Lucknow/ Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, AVSM, SM, VSM took over as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Command on 01 Mar 2023. On assuming command, the General Officer paid homage at the SMRITIKA War Memorial, Lucknow and also reviewed a ceremonial Guard of Honour. Speaking on the occasion, he conveyed his greetings to all ranks and expressed his commitment to carry forward the excellent work by his predecessors and ensure operational readiness of Central Command at all times.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, the General Officer was commissioned in Garhwal Rifles in 1985. He is an alumnus of Joint Services Command Staff College, Bracknell (UK) and National Defence College, New Delhi. He holds a Master of Arts Degree from King’s College, London and an M Phil in Defence Studies from Madras University.
In his illustrious career spanning over 37 years, he has served across a wide spectrum of conflict and terrain profiles and has tenanted a host of prestigious Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. The General Officer commanded his battalion in Counter Insurgency Area in Assam as part of Operation Rhino, an Infantry Brigade along the International Boundary and the Black Cat Division in North East India. The General Officer also commanded Uttar Bharat Area in 2020 and the premier Kharga Corps at Ambala.
The General Officer has also been Divisional Officer at National Defence Academy, Brigade Major of a Mountain Brigade, Assistant Military Secretary in the Military Secretary Branch, Colonel General Staff at Headquarters Eastern Command, Deputy Director General of Military Intelligence in the Integrated Headquarters of MoD, Brigadier General Staff in Eastern Command, Chief Instructor at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Chief of Staff at Headquarters Northern Command. For his distinguished service to the Nation, the General Officer has been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
