TIL Desk Lucknow/ In celebration of International Women’s Day, Phoenix United, Lucknow is set to host the third season of the Phoenix United Women’s Premier League. This tournament has been providing a great platform for female cricketers from schools, colleges, and clubs in the city.
The Phoenix United Women’s Premier League is an indoor cricket tournament running for 4 weeks. It features three categories for schools, colleges, and clubs. Qualifier matches will be played every Saturday and Sunday for three weeks. The tournament will feature 24 teams competing across the three categories. On the fourth weekend, semi-final matches will take place between the top-ranked teams of each group, with the final scheduled for the next day.
The winning team of each category will receive a prize money, trophy, and certificates for all participating team members. Runner-up and second runner-up teams will also be honored. Phoenix United initiated the Women’s Premier League on Women’s Day in 2022, which was highly successful. The second season saw participation from 25 schools, colleges, and clubs, even more than the previous season.
