TIL Desk Lucknow:👉A Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Changing Paradigms of Military Medicine: Imperatives & Way Forward” conducted by Officers Training College (OTC) was held at Major Laishram Jyotin Singh, Ashok Chakra Auditorium of Army Medical Corps Centre & College in Lucknow Cantonment on 22 & 23 Nov 2024.
The CME was inaugurated on 22 Nov 2024 with a solemn Sarasvati Vandana followed by Lamp Lighting by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) along with Lieutenant General Shivinder Singh, Commandant, Army Medical Corps Centre & College & Officer-in-charge of AMC Records and Maj Gen Parag A Deshmukh, Commandant & Chief Instructor, Officers Training College Lucknow.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by senior officers of the station along with more than two hundred delegates comprising doctors from Army, Navy and Air Force and Nursing officers from across the country.
The welcome address was delivered by Lieutenant General Shivinder Singh who traced the evolution of Military Medicine over the years, the dynamic and fast changing battlefield environment and the need to fact check & imbibe newer concepts and technologies in Military Medicine.
The inaugural address was delivered by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, who stressed on the importance of exploiting the complete spectrum of technology driven solutions in Combat Medical Support for saving as many lives of troops and achieving the vision of well equipped, optimally structured and modern future ready Armed Forces Medical Services.
The first keynote address was delivered by Air Vice Marshal Anupam Agarwal, VSM, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Medical), who gave a critical analysis of impact of Russia Ukraine war on the training and preparedness of Armed Forces Medical Services to deal with similar conflicts.
The second keynote address was delivered by Air Vice Marshal Kaushik Chatterjee, Commandant, Command Hospital (Air Force), Bangalore who deliberated on the importance of mental resilience in Armed Forces and its importance in combat.
The CME includes five stimulating scientific sessions chaired by senior and experienced doctors of the Armed Forces Medical Services comprising deliberations on diverse topics of current and future importance in the niche field of Military Medicine by speakers across the three services as well as Army Dental Corps and Military Nursing Service. The deliberations, interactions and ensuing discussions during the various sessions of CME are intended to set forth the course of ideation, research and implementation of futuristic innovations, concepts and principles in field of Military Medicine with respect to all three services, especially highlighting the Changing Paradigms therein.
The CME also witnessed a well subscribed Scientific Poster Presentation comprising of entries from Doctors and Nursing Officers on wide ranging topics geared towards recent advances in the rapidly evolving field of Military Medicine.
