Mixed trend prevails in foodgrains market

TIL Desk/Business/Chennai-In a truncated week, prices of moong dal and gram dal increased while that of thoor dal,urad dal,sugar and sooji (90 kg) dropped in the wholesale foodgrains market week here. Prices of wheat(Rs.3,000) and maida(90 kg)(Rs.2,700) ruled steady throughout the week.

On the opening day, moong dal decreased by Rs.200 per quintal to Rs.7,000 from Rs.7,200 but its price increased on Wednesday by Rs.400 and ended this week at Rs.7,400. Gram dal on the opening day was Rs.12,000 an increase of Rs 200 per quintal from its closing rates of Rs 11,800 and closed this week at the same opening rate(Rs12,000).

Thoor dal and urad dal opened the week at Rs 10,500 and Rs 10,000, a decrease of Rs.200 per quintal from its closing rates of Rs.10,700 and Rs.10,200 respectively. Thoor dal and urad dal closed this week at its opening rates of Rs 10,500 and Rs 10,000.

While Sugar dipped by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,850 from Rs 3,900, its price remaining same till this weekend. Sooji (90 kgs) was sharply less by Rs 200 on the opening day to Rs 3,200 from its closing rates of Rs 3,400 and finished this week at its opening rate of Rs 3,200.
