TIL Desk Lucknow/ The Uttar Pradesh International Trade Expo (UPITEX) commenced successfully on Thursday, pledging to usher in a revolutionary transformation in the state’s economy. Hosted by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, the expo aims to catapult Uttar Pradesh into a new era of economic development. The UPITEX is scheduled to take place from January 25th to 29th.
The inaugural session on January 25th made a powerful start with distinguished speakers representing various sectors crucial for UP’s economic growth. Chief guests included Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Cabinet Minister, Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI & Investment Promotion and Rakesh Sachan, Cabinet Minister, MSME, Khadi & Villages Industries, Sericulture Industries, Handloom & Textile and Guest of Honour, Durga Shankar Mishra, IAS, Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh.
Renowned attendees comprised key figures like Arun Kumar Sahu, General Manager, SBI, Anjani Kumar Srivastava, Managing Director, HOFED and Ram Kumar, Sr Project Manager, UPNEDA, provided valuable perspectives on Uttar Pradesh’s growth potential.
The opening remarks for the inaugural session was delivered by Mr. Jatinder Singh, Assistant Secretary General, PHDCCI, expressing gratitude to the esteemed participants for their contributions and insights.
Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Cabinet Minister for Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI & Investment Promotion lauded the remarkable transformation in Uttar Pradesh from 2017 to 2024, attributing it to the visionary leadership of our esteemed Chief Minister. He said, “UP is recognized as a premier destination for investors and has a thriving economic future. The state has excelled in connectivity through airways, roadways, and railways, with additional projects underway. Furthermore, UP proudly leads with 17 domestic and 5 international airports, marking a significant milestone. Upholding the ethos of “Uttam se Sarvottam Pradesh,” UP not only has fostered the industrial growth but also celebrates its rich cultural heritage. I take immense pride in applauding the progress of women towards empowerment under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative which can be seen today in these Expos. I appreciate the global participation in the Expo and extend my congratulations to the PHD Chamber of Commerce, especially the Uttar Pradesh Chapter, for their pivotal role. Uttar Pradesh takes pride in being the fastest country to embrace digitalization, fostering the growth of startups and MSMEs.”
Durga Shanker Mishra, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh expressed his gratitude and said, “Witnessing the diverse participation of entrepreneurs from across the globe in UPITEX is a success in itself. Uttar Pradesh is celebrating 75 years of UP’s establishment and through these years we have witnessed a tremendous growth. Year 2023 was declared as the Year of Millets by Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath which was recognised globally and today UP has even become a millet based economy. With a focus on MSMEs, UP aims for a Trillion-dollar economy, fostering entrepreneurship and talent through programs like ODOP. I am extremely grateful to the PHD Chamber of Commerce for organizing such Exposition which have been helping us to reach at global platforms.”
Mr. Rakesh Sachan, Cabinet Minister, MSME, Khadi & Villages Industries, Sericulture Industries, Handloom & Textile in Uttar Pradesh, expressed gratitude to the PHD Chamber of Commerce for orchestrating the Expo. He said, “The Expo has played a pivotal role in bringing together entrepreneurs, ODOP producers, and various stakeholders to showcase their products. The event has facilitated seamless connections between producers and consumers, contributing to the state’s economic growth. I acknowledge Uttar Pradesh’s significant progress under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. The growth across several sectors is positively impacting citizens of Uttar Pradesh. By generating employment through various initiatives and schemes, we ultimately are propelling the state towards a 1 trillion economy.”

He envisions UPITEX as a catalyst for economic development. Dr Ranjeet Mehta, Executive Director, PHDCCI highlighted the expo’s role in positioning UP as an investment magnet, showcasing opportunities in agriculture, architecture, lifestyle, and more.” He further emphasized UPITEX’s collaborative spirit, bringing together over 300 exhibitors globally.” According to Mr. Atul Srivastava, Regional Director, UP Chapter, PHDCCI “Together, we will address industry challenges and ensure UP reaches new economic heights.” He expressed gratitude for the substantial support.
With an impressive roster and a goal of working together, UPITEX has the potential to revolutionize the game, pushing Uttar Pradesh towards a thriving economic future. The occasion guaranteed to display the state’s capabilities and encourage crucial partnerships for continuous development. The first day of the expo witnessed a massive footfall of more than five thousand people from all walk of life.
