TIL Desk Bollywood/ Bollywood’s most loved action hero, Akshay Kumar did what none from his generation of actors have done so far. He played a gay character in Rohit Dhawan’s directorial ‘Dishoom’. Although he had a cameo in the film, his small yet impressive role left people talking about it.
Akki received an immensely positive response not only from his industry buddies but also from the viewers. The best part about his character in the film was that it did not follow any stereotype rather it broke many previously seen on-screen set types
Akshay as saying, “I’ve been hearing that I really might be a first among my generation to do such a role, and you know what, being proud of one’s decisions is what makes your choices infectious… Gay, straight, fat or thin, we are what we are, and I was proud to play a gay character finally in my career.
But the incredible response I’ve received from so many people is what makes this so amazing. All I can say is — thanks for the unconditional love. Akki is truly a superstar!
