Former actress Mamta Kulkarni accused in Rs 2000 crore drug haul

TIL Desk Bollywood/ The Thane police which busted the Rs 2000 crore drug case last month has named former actress Mamta Kulkarni in the drug racket case along with her husband Vicky Goswami. Paramveer Singh, Thane Police said, “Mamta Kulkarni’s husband Vicky Goswami is already an accused. Mamta Kulkarni is now also an accused.” Singh also said that they will issue a red-corner notice against Goswani.

He said, “Will send request to Interpol for red corner notice against Mamta Kulkarni through CBI. Verifying her bank accounts, investments.” Singh also added that they also suspect some people from Bollywood to be a part of it. Singh said, “Some people from Bollywood are being investigated for their connections with Mamata Kulkarni and Vicky Goswami.”

 The United States’ Drug Enforcement Administration is also trying to get Goswami to the US where he has been named in another drug case. Goswami who was born in Gujarat, grew up in Mumbai and supplied party drugs. He also set up three plants in Dubai where he was once caught in a drug case in UAE, but got bail and fled.

The drug racket was brought to light after cops caught 500 gram of ephedrine from a Nigerian man. During further investigation in the case, cops raided a factory in Solapur, in Maharashtra which stored more than 20-tonnes of ephedrine illegally.
