TIL Desk Entertainment/ New reality show ‘Lock Upp’ that launched last Sunday (27th February) with the premise of locking up celebrities who are known to voice strong opinions marks a shift in TV in India. Lock Upp, a unique captive reality format being streamed live on MX Player and ALT Balaji, featuring a fiery host, Kangana Ranaut bringing together 13 controversial celebrities in a jail for 72 days, has hit the bullseye in capturing a phenomenal 15 million views with 48 hours since its launch. This made it the first digital reality show to achieve such a massive opening in its launch week. In a never seen before captive reality format, this show is a class apart from everything seen in India or across the globe in OTT history till date! 

There was a lot of speculation on social media about who would be the celebrity jailer in this badass lockup. Well, it seems the jailer has been revealed, and Kangana was bang on with her claim about the choice of jailer!The concept of having a Jailor being a part of such a show is yet another first. Karan Kundrra, the dashing and talented actor who has been in the headlines for all the reality shows, serials and movies and entertained audiences with his charisma, is finally set to enter the badass jail. Karan Kundrra will give inmates some bizarre tasks and control the house with his fierce and brazen personality. This super-hunk jailer and his gameplay will surely win over audiences. The jailor’s main responsibility is to run the jail, give tasks and punishments to the Kaidis in obeying the orders by the Queen.
 
Lock Upp, is a social experiment that will pave the way for developing a homegrown global reality format. While television has run its course on the over hashed sentiment of unity amid differences of opinions, Lock Upp is a reality format that is quite the opposite — it pits celebrities and influencers who are known for very strong views on various issues in a hostile environment that has bare minimum amenities.
