TIL Desk Bollywood/ Sugandh Films and Kenilworth Films LLP’s film “Ek Kori Prem Katha”, was released in theaters on April 5, 2024 amidst huge enthusiasm of the audience. ‘Ek Kori Prem Katha’, as the name of the film suggests, is based on the evil practice of bride’s virginity test at the time of marriage. The story of this film makes us aware of that aspect of the society, about which very few people know and the film has worked to convey the same pain of women to the people by exposing that evil of the society.

In this film, actresses Khanak Budhiraja, Akshay Oberoi, Raj Babbar and Poonam Dhillon have played all the main characters well. About 80 percent of the film was shot in Balrampur and its surrounding areas in Uttar Pradesh.

The film depicts how a bride, on the very first night of her marriage, has to face the village’s Kukri Kukri tradition (a tradition of the Sansi tribe), which involves examining the bride’s character before marriage. A test is taken, which challenges his existence. In the film, Khanak Budhiraja has raised his voice against this Kukri evil practice that is still going on in the society. People from all sections of the society and especially women must watch this film.

Expressing her views, renowned actress Poonam Dhillon, who plays the important role of the mother-in-law in the film, said, “It is a meaningful and touching story and very emotional. Also, in today’s time it is a very relevant topic which needs discussion.”

Directed by Chinmay P Purohit and written by Saba Mumtaz, “Ek Kori Prem Katha” promises to ignite conversations about established social norms and the evolving role of women in modern India. As audiences eagerly await its release, the film continues to challenge and inspire, reflecting the need for social change.
