Kashmir Slur: Curfew lifted from most part of the Vally

TIL Desk/National/Kashmir-After remaining under continuous restrictions for 51 days following violent protests against the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, curfew was lifted from most parts of the Valley on Monday.

Restrictions under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code or CrPC, however, remain enforced which prohibits unlawful assembly of 10 or more people. Around 70 people have died and over 11,000 have been injured in violent clashes between protesters and security forces.

In a fresh bid to reach out to people of the valley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Monday said “Ekta” (unity) and “Mamata” (love) are the basic mantras for addressing Kashmir problem even as he slammed those pushing “innocent” children to violence, saying they will have to answer them some day. Seeking to strike a chord with the people of Kashmir, he said if any life is lost in the valley, whether of any youth or any securityman, “that loss is ours, of our own, of our own country”.
