TIL Desk Bollywood/ Film distributor Akshaye Rathi has claimed that he has received threats from Shiva Sena’s Chhattisgarh unit against releasing Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming “Raees”, which stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
In a series of tweets, Rathi said that he has received a letter which has warned him not to screen the Rahul Dholakia-directed movie, slated to release on January 25. The distributor also tagged Aaditya Thackeray, who is the head of Yuva Sena, a youth wing of Shiv Sena.
“Dear @AUThackeray, We have received this threat letter from your Chhattisgarh unit against playing @iamsrk’s #Raees. Do you endorse it?” Rathi posted alongside pictures of the threat letter.
Addressing Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, he wrote, “@drramansingh ji & @CGAbhishekSingh, Please look into this to let law & order prevail in #Chhattisgarh. #Raees @ChhattisgarhCMO.” Rathi also made an appeal to all SRK fans to support him. “Request all @iamsrk fans to help me bring this to the notice of @AUThackeray. I’m sure he will take action against this nuisance. #Raees.
