TIL Desk/National/Guwahati/ Amid rising tensions along the Assam-Mizoram border, Mizoram police filed criminal cases against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, two Assam administrative officials and four senior Assam state police personnel. The FIR was lodged at the Vairengte police station, officials said on Friday.
The cases were filed in connection with the violence that occurred on the outskirts of Vairengte town in Mizoram’s Kolasib district, officials said. They have been booked under various charges, including attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy, Mizoram Inspector General of Police (Headquarter) John Neihlaia told.
The four Assam police personnel and two administrative officials, against whom criminal cases were filed, have been summoned by the Mizoram police for questioning on Sunday. Further, cases have been registered against 200 unidentified Assam Police personnel, officials said.
The four senior Assam Police officers named in the FIR are Inspector General of Police (IGP) Anurag Aggarwal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Cachar Devojyoti Mukherjee, Cachar Superintendent of Police Cahndrakant Nimbalkar, and officer in-charge of Dholai police station, Sahab Uddin, Neihlaia said.
