TIL Desk/National/Lucknow/Amid the ongoing nationwide debate over triple talaq, UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday called for an end to the Muslim practice. The BJP leader further advocated the implementation of a common civil code.
“As far as social justice is concerned, our Muslim sisters should also get justice. There should not be an injustice to them. No one should be exploited,” Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had quoted Modi as saying yesterday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Sunday dubbed triple talaq a “bad social practice”. Equating ‘triple talaq’ with disrobing of Draupadi, Adityanath said those who are silent on the matter were like criminals.
Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Sunday said that those using triple talaq recklessly and without justification should be made to face social boycott.
