TIL Desk/National/Kangra(Shimla)/ Prme Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attacked the Congress, saying the state’s ruilng party has become a “laughing club”. Addressing an election rally here, Mr. Modi asked the Congress to introspect on why people across the country are punishing it.
“Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh faces serious graft charges, but Congress poll manifesto talks about zero tolerance for corruption. “It’s time to rid the Devbhoomi of monsters”, Mr. Modi said.
Earlier in the week on Tuesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah named former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal as the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly polls.
The Assembly poll for the State is scheduled on November 9 and the results will be declared on December 18. Union Minister J.P. Nadda was seen as one of the contenders but Mr. Dhumal’s mass connect in the hill State seems to have tipped the scale in his favour.
