Delhi Election Commission is ‘spineless’: Arvind Kejriwal

TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s run-ins with the Election Commission is not going to abate soon. Kejriwal, in one of his tweets, called the Delhi Election Commission ‘spineless’.

The chief minister was responding to a tweet about Uttar Pradesh Election Commission’s demand for new EVMs. The State Election Commission stated that the available EVMs were old and made before 2006.The State EC’s demand indicates that the existing EVMs have become outdated.

It has suggested that old EVMs should not be used for local body elections in Uttar Pradesh. The red-flagging by the UP State Election Commission assumes significance in the wake of ongoing political controversy of the authenticity of polls conducted using EVMs.

Kerjiwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a loss in the by-election for Rajouri Garden Assembly constituency in Delhi. The AAP candidate lost his deposit. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the seat while the Congress was at the second spot.
