Five convicted in 2013 Bodhgaya serial blasts by Patna court

TIL Desk/National/ Patna/ All five accused in 2013 Bodhgaya blast found guilty by Patna court. Next hearing on May 31. Two Buddhist monks were seriously injured in July 2013 in serial bomb blasts in Bodhgaya.

The blasts, the first-of-its-kind in the state, were allegedly carried out by the members of the Ranchi module of Indian Mujahideen and the Students’ Islamic Movement of India.

Special NIA judge Manoj Kumar Sinha held all the five accused – Imtiyaz Ansari, Haider Ali, Mujib Ullah, Omair Siddiqui and Azharuddin Qureishi – guilty in the case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act.

On 4 November 2013, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced that the Indian Mujahideen was responsible for the bombings.
