TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Twenty-four days after Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Najeeb Ahmed’ disappearance, President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday sought a detailed report from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the whereabouts of the missing JNU scholar.
Earlier, President Pranab Mukherjee had assured that he will seek a report from the Ministry of Home Affairs on Najeeb after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met him on November 6, 2016. Najeeb Ahmed, a student of School of Biotechnology in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and a resident of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, has been missing since October 15.
Mother and sister of Najeeb were on Sunday reportedly detained when they, along with scores of agitating students, tried to take out a protest march to India Gate demanding intensified efforts from police in tracing him. Fatima Nafees, mother of Najeeb, was reportedly dragged into a bus by police along with other students when they were on their way to India Gate, triggering criticism from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who decided to visit the police station.
