TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Home minister Rajnath Singh briefs PM Narendra Modi on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level meet to review the security situation across the border. The meet took place at 10.30 am today in Delhi and is believed to be aimed at discussing the strategies to tackle the continuous ceasefire violation and attacks that have been happening after India’s surgical strike.
The meeting was briefed about the situation on the LoC and the International Border as well as the hinterland, sources said. Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased after the surgical strikes carried out on the intervening night of September 28 and 29 on terror launch pads across the LoC. Pakistan has intensified cross-LoC firing and shelling since the surgical strikes.The PM had chaired a similar a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meet on September 29.
In the previous meet, the chiefs of defence forces and BSF were guided by Home Minister Rajnath Singh to double check security across the LoC and curb any possibility infiltration bid. The meet held by the Prime Minister will be attended by top security officials, including Defence Chiefs, NSA Ajit Doval, Union Home Minister amongst many others.
