PM Modi did not ask Trump to mediate in Kashmir: EAM

TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s statement in the Rajya Sabha clarifying US President Donald Trump’s claim that PM Narendra Modi had asked the US to mediate between India and Pakistan.

Jaishankar said, “I categorically assure the House that no such request has been made by the Prime Minister to the US President. “The Shimla Agreement and the Lahore declaration provide the basis to resolve all issues between India and Pakistan bilaterally,” Jaishankar said and added,  “I hope my categorical and specific denial leaves no confusion in anyone’s mind.”
