TIL Desk/National/Dadri/ Sharpening his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday told people at Dadri Anaj Mandi that PM’s demonetisation drive has made them “cashless” as he couldn’t recover money from corporates who squandered away with crores.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken away your money back to banks while he couldn’t money from top corporates of the country who have taken at least Rs 8 lakh crore loan from banks”, Gandhi said addressing traders and women in Uttar Pradesh’s Dadri. “PM has made you stand in lines for banks to function,” Rahul added.
Minutes after senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram criticised NDA government for implementing the “anti-poor” demonetization scheme, Rahul who is on visit to the state said, “PM’s narrative has changed over time. First, it was fight against black money, then terrorism and now it’s about making society cashless. PM talks about making the society cashless, society has already become cashless because of this move, people are suffering”.
