TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Congress VP Rahul Gandhi, top Cong leaders meet PM Modi and handover a memorandum on farmers’ demand, including loan waiver, and the problems they dace due to demonetisation. Rahul Gandhi represented opposition leaders from as many as 15 parties and accused the PM of personal corruption. “Read my lips,” he told, before claiming that PM Modi is “terrified” by the likelihood of “detailed information about his personal corruption” being shared in parliament.
Along with Rahul Gandhi and Amarinder Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Mallikarjun Kharge, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Raj Babbar were present.
Following the meeting, Modi entered Rajya Sabha along with Arun Jaitley. However, the Upper House of Parliament got adjourned sine die within the next few minutes.
The meeting between Rahul and Modi comes at a time when the Gandhi family scion claims to have received incrementing evidence against the Prime Minister, related to his alleged ‘personal corruption’.
The information which Rahul claims to have received, is related to the Birla IT raid in 2012, where the Income Tax sleuths allegedly obtained a mail which included the then Gujarat CM as a recipient. However, Supreme Court has rejected the mail as an evidence.
Before meeting the Rahul Gandhi led Congress delegation, Modi addressed the BJP.
