TIL Desk/National/New Delhi-BJP on Monday came down heavily on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for claiming the party’s national president, Amit Shah, had met MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi ahead of the 2015 Bihar elections and the two had struck a deal to divide the state along communal lines. Akbaruddin is the brother of MIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
“AAP members should prove that such a meeting took place. They should specify where and when they met,” BJP spokesperson Shrikant Sharma said. He added that AAP members had gotten used to “slander and lies”. “They should stop vilifying BJP,” he added.
He said BJP was a nationalist party and it could never think of a deal with divisive forces like Owaisi, against whom the party has sought sedition charges for offering legal help to alleged IS supporters.
