TIL Desk/National/Lucknow-Amidst the heightened tension between India and Pakistan after the Uri attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said the doors of talks should not be closed and “dialogue can solve every problem”. “We should not close doors of talks. Samajwadis are always in favour of good relations with neighbouring countries. However, where to show strictness and where to talk is to be decided by the Centre but talks can solve big problems,” Yadav said.
The September 18 attack, in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed, has triggered a strong response from India which has reviewed the 56-year-old Indus Water Treaty (IWT), and decide to reconsider the MFN status granted by it, unilaterally, to Pakistan. Reacting to the IWT developments, Akhilesh said India could do as it pleased, but asserted that war was not a solution. “Pakistan is formed from India. These treaties are not of now but too old. You can stop water, its in your hand. Taking back anything or war is not a solution,” he said.
