TIL Desk Sports/ Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were involved in a war of words after the IPL 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Monday. The exchange of words turned into a heated argument, with the RCB batting star and the former India opener Gambhir, who is the LSG team mentor added another chapter to their bitter rivalry.
The two had to be separated by Amit Mishra, RCB captain Faf du Plessis and LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya. After the altercation, Kohli was also seen speaking to LSG captain K L Rahul to explain his side of the story. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the low-scoring match by 18 runs, with Kohli making 31.
Kohli’s brief exchange with LSG pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq during the handshakes after the match seemed to have triggered the altercation as Gambhir confronted the RCB opener. Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq were involved in war of wards during the match when the latter came out to bat in LSG’s run chase.
Gambhir then tried to charge towards Kohli but was restrained by LSG captain K L Rahul and other team-mates before he had a heated conversation with Kohli, who tried to explain his side, but soon things started getting out of hand and the two had to be separated by their team-mates.
