TIL Desk Sports/ Striker Fernando Torres was rushed to the hospital after suffering a head injury during Atletico Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Deportivo La Coruna in their La Liga clash at the Riazor in Spain on Friday.
The incident took place in the 84th minute of the match when the 33-year-old collided with Depor substitute Alex Bergantinos while jumping for the ball. Torres crashed heavily to the turf, with his head slamming into the ground upon landing before players and medical staff rushed to his aide.
After being attended for at least five minutes, Torres was subsequently taken off the pitch on a stretcher and then transported to a hospital in A Coruna. Reflecting on his injury, Atletico said, “Torres suffered a head trauma. He was taken to hospital for tests. He will spend the night under observation.
