TIL Desk Lucknow/ The Armed Forces Medical Supply Depot (AFMSD) at Lucknow is all set to host AAPOORTI-2022 from 19-21 Sep 2022 – a unique conference designed with the medical supply chain and logistics in mind. The three-day event will feature deliberations between decision makers of the Armed Forces Medical Services assigned to the role of equipping and maintaining a vast network of Armed Forces Hospitals across the country. It may be noted that with the rapid digitization of supply chains, the Armed Forces Medical Services is preparing itself with newer supply chain models to keep the medical supplies running smoothly to the soldier on the frontiers.
The conference has been organized by the AFMSD Lucknow, an organization dedicated to the task of procuring, stocking, and supplying medical equipment, consumables, and drugs since the last 79 years. Operating under the aegis of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) of India, the unit is one of three such organizations across the country which cater to the needs not only of Army, Air Force and Navy but also para-military forces such as Assam Rifles, Coast Guard, Ordnance Factories and ECHS. The depot has rendered pivotal service to the nation by ensuring supplies during COVID pandemic and to friendly foreign countries under the stewardship of the DGAFMS. Over the years, AFMSD Lucknow has become an important gear in the machinery of Armed Forces Medical Services and are all set to adopt it enabled best practices.
As part of AAPOORTI-2022, there will be multiple sessions on important matters such as inventory optimization, e-procurement, digital inventory, auditing and quality assurance in the supply chain. Contemporary topics like the possible usage of drones to deliver medicines to the frontlines and networked warehouses etc will be also discussed.
AFMSD has also tried to explore the best practices being followed by related organisations such as the Govt E-Marketplace (GeM), the UP State Medical Supplies Corporation among others and sessions are focused on learning best practices from such organisations.
Around 100 delegates from around the country would be attending apart from the staff of AFMSD. The attendees would include senior and mid-level executives entrusted with ensuring the medical supplies. The conference has been named AAPOORTI to signify the sense of ‘fulfilment’, the deport aims to achieve in the clientele.
