TIL Desk Lucknow/ Commissioning ceremony of the 5th Batch of Nursing Cadets of College of Nursing was held on 31 Dec 2022 at OTC Drill Square, AMC Centre & College, Lucknow. The Chief Guest Maj Gen Pankaj P Rao, Commandant, Command Hospital, Central Command, Lucknow Commissioned the 30 Nursing Cadets’ as Lieutenants into the prestigious Military Nursing Service. Brig R Jeyanthi, Principal Matron, Command Hospital, Central Command Lucknow administered oath of affirmation to newly inducted Nursing Officers. The institution takes pride in inducting its 5th batch of graduates, who epitomise the finest nursing professionals preparing to render their yeoman service to the nation.
The School of Nursing Command Hospital, Central Command, Lucknow was established in the year 1951 and subsequently was upgraded to College of Nursing in the year 2014. The College is affiliated to King George Medical University and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow & training is conducted in accordance with the directives of Indian Nursing Council.
Col S Gita, Principal, College of Nursing, Command Hospital, Central Command, Lucknow presented the Course Report where she highlighted the accomplishments of these promising Nursing Cadets who have now taken up the role of Nursing Officers and will be working in various tri service hospitals in Army, Navy and Air Force.
During this ceremony Lt Divya Sharma was awarded Gold Medal for securing First position in the Final Year University Exams and Lt Tanveer Kaur bagged the silver medal for ranking second in the batch. Lt Divya Sharma was adjudged the All-round Best Outgoing Student and Lt Bhawana Mehra was adjudged the Best Clinical Nurse.
Maj Gen Pankaj P Rao in his address to the newly commissioned Nursing Officers, exhaulted that the young Nursing Officers should uphold their duties and responsibilities with utmost zeal, zest and fervour. The General Officer also emphasized that in the ever expanding and changing health scenario of the Armed Forces, Nursing Officers play a vital role as versatile and unique health care providers. Efficient Nursing care and services tennated by them will not only mitigate the pain and suffering of humanity, but also hasten their recovery and live up to the motto “Service with Smile”. Nursing Officers posted to various Armed Forces hospitals have the distinctive opportunity of nursing the soldiers and their families located in far flung areas of the country in time of peace and war. They also play a crucial role in the peace keeping in UN Missions.
As Nursing Officers, they will get the dual opportunity of acquiring professional excellence while getting to see the length and breadth of this nation with its rich cultural heritage. This ceremony heralds the commencement of an illustrious career in Military Nursing Service for the newly commissioned Nursing Officers who are now equipped to scale greater heights of technical and professional brilliance. The event was attended by Officers, Nursing Officers of Lucknow Garrison, proud parents and civilian guests from esteemed institutions.
