TIL Desk Lucknow:👉In a significant step aimed at enhancing the efficiency and public service orientation of the Lucknow Police, a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Medanta Hospital, Lucknow and the Commissionerate of Police, Lucknow under the guidance of the Police Commissioner, Lucknow.

Under this collaboration, city police personnel have been specially trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) to respond swiftly during emergencies such as cardiac arrest. This initiative is a major step in enabling the police force to save the lives of common citizens. The primary objective of this initiative is to empower the police force to act as lifesavers in critical situations.

Key Features of the Training Program

1. Format of the Training:

– Police personnel were trained in emergency procedures like CPR for cardiac arrest situations, oxygen level measurement, blood pressure monitoring, and Basic Life Support (BLS).

– A free health check-up camp was also organized during the training, which included assessments like blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation (SpO2).

– Practical workshops and interactive sessions were conducted by Medanta Hospital experts.

– Over 200 police personnel underwent free health check-ups (blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels) during the training.

2. Objective of the Training:

– To train police personnel to provide immediate medical assistance during the “Golden Hour” (the first 60 minutes of an emergency).

– To develop proficiency in CPR techniques, oxygen level measurement, blood pressure monitoring, and Basic Life Support (BLS).

– In cardiac arrest cases, the “Golden Hour” (first 60 minutes) is extremely critical. This training can prove to be a milestone in utilizing this vital period effectively to save lives. This collective effort of the Lucknow Police reflects a hopeful initiative toward societal responsibility.

Social Significance of the Collaboration

– Triangular Benefit: This initiative is a unique example of citizen-police-medical cooperation, which will enhance access to emergency medical services.

– Role of Statistics: Over 1.7 lakh people fall victim to cardiac arrest in India every year. Trained police personnel can play a crucial role in reducing this number.

– Citizen-Police Trust: This initiative will strengthen the bridge of trust between the general public and the police.

Future Strategy:

– Police personnel from all 58 police stations under the Lucknow Commissionerate will be trained in phases.

– Medanta Hospital will provide regular training courses and materials for police personnel.

– Refresher courses and digital learning modules will be made available for trained personnel.

During emergencies, quick and precise training empowers the police not only to save lives but also to promote a sense of safety and trust in society.

During the training, 50 police personnel from various units of the Police Commissionerate, including 112 response team members, participated. ACP Soumya Pandey (Women Crime/112 LKO) was also present.
