TIL Desk Lucknow: 👉Max Super Speciality Hospital today announced expansion of its surgical program with the launch of the state-of-the-art Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System. This cutting-edge technology will enhance the quality of surgical care, making minimally invasive procedures more accessible to residents of Lucknow.
Da Vinci Xi Surgical Robot enables doctors to perform complex surgeries with enhanced 3D vision, dexterity, and control through small incisions, thereby minimizing patient discomfort and hospital stay duration. The surgeons can perform surgeries by using Da Vinci Xi Surgical Robot instruments that they can guide via a console.
Commenting on the launch, Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, Executive Vice President – Hospital Operations & Zonal Head (Vaishali and Lucknow), Max Healthcare said, “We are thrilled to launch the latest Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System at Max Hospital in Lucknow. Our commitment to providing the best possible care is unwavering, and this launch underscores our dedication to improving patient outcomes and setting new standards in medical excellence.”
The introduction of this technology is part of Max Hospital, Lucknow’s broader strategy to position itself as a leader in medical innovation and patient care. It is expected to attract patients from neighboring regions, significantly boosting the local healthcare infrastructure and economy.
“Lucknow is a major hub for medical treatment, attracting patients from the city as well as serving as an important referral center for patients from Eastern, Central Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. With the launch of the Da Vinci Xi system, patients will no longer need to travel to larger cities to receive best-in-class treatment,” Dr Aggarwal added.
This technology will be deployed for surgeries under various disciplines such as Oncology, Urology & Kidney Transplant, Minimal Access, Bariatric Surgery, Gynecology and General Surgery among others. Talking about the advantages of robotic surgery, Dr Rahul Yadav, Director – Urology, Andrology, Kidney Transplant and Robotic Uro-Oncology, Max Hospital, Lucknow said, “Robotic surgical systems provides better patient outcomes associated with lesser pain, less blood loss, shorter hospital stay, early return to work, follow daily routine and even minimal post-operation complications. Da Vinci robotic system translates a surgeon’s hand movements from the console in real time, bending and rotating the instruments while performing the procedure.” (Master and slave system)
Dr. Shashank Chaudhary, Senior Consultant, Surgical Oncology, Max Hospital, Lucknow said oncology surgeries have typically become ‘scarless’ because of such advanced technologies. The robot improves surgeon’s dexterity and ensures better access to difficult parts in the body. (Better deeper space vision & better hemostasis can be achieved when cancer is present in thorax and pelvis area)
“The da Vinci vision system delivers highly magnified, 3D high-definition views of the surgical area. The instrument size makes it possible for surgeons to operate through one or a few small incisions,” Dr. Chaudhary said.
Currently, Max Healthcare is one of the largest healthcare players in the country with 24 robotic systems across its Network hospitals and approximately 10,000 robotic surgeries have been performed at our Network hospitals so far.
