Medanta Hospital Organizes Awareness Program with Cancer Survivors on World Cancer Day

TIL Desk Lucknow:👉On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Medanta Hospital organized a cancer awareness program in Lucknow, where cancer survivors shared their personal journeys and experiences. Doctors also addressed various aspects related to cancer during the event. The objective of the program was to increase awareness about cancer, highlight the importance of early detection, and provide emotional support to patients and survivors.

More than 40 cancer survivors participated in the program. During the interaction, survivors shared how timely treatment and a positive mindset transformed their lives. Many survivors said that when cancer was first diagnosed, their families were emotionally devastated, as cancer is commonly perceived as an incurable disease among the general public. However, proper medical guidance and timely treatment helped them regain hope and strength, giving their lives a new direction.

Along with sharing their experiences, the survivors were taken on a Lucknow city tour. Traveling in a UP Tourism double-decker bus, they visited prominent landmarks from 1090 Chauraha to the Vidhan Sabha, Residency Park, and UP Darshan Park. During the tour, participants captured memorable moments on camera and described the experience as inspiring and filled with hope.

During the program, Dr. Harshvardhan Atreya, Director – Medical Oncology, spoke about the early signs and symptoms of cancer. Dr. Vivekanand Singh, Director – Head and Neck Cancer, emphasized the importance of timely screening and early diagnosis. Dr. Abhishek Singh, Director – Medical Oncology, discussed cancer risk factors and preventive measures. Dr. Anshul Gupta, Director – Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant, addressed common myths and facts related to cancer. Dr. Mohd. Suhaib, Director – Radiation Oncology, highlighted the role of a healthy lifestyle in cancer prevention and recovery. Dr. Roma Pradhan, Associate Director – Cancer Care, spoke about the need for mental and emotional support for patients and their attendants. Dr. Resham Srivastava, Associate Director – Radiation Oncology, discussed various cancer treatment options and advanced technologies available today. The program was also attended by Dr. Neeraj Rastogi, Director – Radiation Oncology, and Dr. Amit Agrawal, Director – Cancer Care, Endocrine and Breast Surgery.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Medical Director, Medanta Hospital, said, “Cancer is no longer an incurable disease. Early detection and the right treatment can give a new direction to a patient’s life. Awareness, regular screening, and trust between doctors and patients play a crucial role in the success of treatment, significantly improving both survival rates and quality of life.”
